A $299,999 home listed for sale on the MLS for Riverhead, N.Y., was built by a robot. The home is touted as the first 3D-printed home slated to receive a certificate of occupancy and to be listed on the MLS for sale, SQ4D Inc., which made the house, said.
The 1,400-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was printed using SQ4D’s Autonomous Robotic Construction System. The home also includes a 750-square-foot, two-and-a-half car garage. The home was built with concrete.
The ARCS technology robotically built the footings, foundations, and interior and exterior walls on site of the home. The company says that it can build 3D homes at a fraction of the cost of traditional wood-frame construction.
“At $299,999, this home is priced 50% below the cost of comparable newly constructed homes in Riverhead, N.Y., and represents a major step towards addressing the affordable housing crisis plaguing Long Island,” Stephen King of Realty Connect, who is listing the home, said in a press release.
